Railroad Museum of South Florida that you must explore! "Train park"
Whats New?
The Railroad Museum of South Florida, recently purchased a new electric powered locomotive! It resembles the full size restored, engine 143 and it even has sound effects that sound just like a real train!
Explore The Train Museum
A must see when visiting the park! They have a beautiful train/town display that resembles the Florida railroad in the late 1950’s. It features the 4 leading industries at the time; fishing, logging, farming, and tourism. There is so much detail and dedication. We really love this place! They also have a small movie theater where you can sit and watch a video that talks about the history of the park and railroad.
You'll want to check out their cute little gift shop that offers many train related items:
-T-Shirts
-Train Whistles
-Key Chains
-Engineer Hats
-Bandanas & much more!
All Aboard The Choo Choo Train
Take a 15min ride on a locomotive train, through the cutest miniature railroad village at Lakes Regional Park. The train will travel past four full size operating grade crossing signals, through a tunnel with lights and sound, by a waterfall, windmill, goes over a trestle and a pedestrian bridge. Along the way, the train passes numerous small sized buildings that make up the villages along the route, giving you a historical perspective of what Southwest Florida communities looked like in the 1950s.
Holiday Train Rides
Halloween and Christmas time are our favorite holidays to visit the railroad museum because they offer evening rides through the park and they decorate the trains path with lights and holiday decorations. Their volunteers are truly the best and work so hard! It is something to see and it has turned into a family tradition for us. The lines get long so make sure to arrive early. We like arriving a couple minutes before sunset.
Train Hours
Monday – Fridays from 10am-2pm
